Why I’m Running

I believe Mount Vernon deserves strong and healthy families that enrich Skagit County. I am running for city council because my experiences born and raised in Mt Vernon have prepared me to lead. I’m a daughter of hard working farmworkers, and a woman of color, this has prepared me to champion equitable representation within the Mt Vernon City Council. My key areas of focus come from my community.

1- Work for Safe & Affordable Housing with safe and healthy neighborhoods

2- Develop and fund gang prevention programs for youth

3- Lead community efforts to increase funding for culturally appropriate and bilingual programming including funding curriculum to teach our kids about our Latinx history in grades k-12.

These issues can be addressed through better community engagement in our city, increasing participation of Latino families and youth. Together we can create a vision for a better future for all underrepresented people and the highest demographic population, Latinxs. As a city council member, I will continue to advocate with integrity and transparency to build collaborations, and protect our community.
